Post-Entanglement update post
(2019 Nov 4)

Ok so! It’s been a little bit since I’ve updated this, but I feel like I should make a post talking about what I’m up to lately, since I just added a new thing to the website.

Entanglement.

I participated in Ludum Dare again — Ludum Dare 45, whose theme was “Start with nothing.” To that end, I produced Entanglement, which is a puzzle game with a really simple/elegant mechanic that I think resulted in quite a few interesting puzzles.

Although a lot of people commented that they found the puzzles quite hard, the game still managed to place 34th overall out of all compo submissions, which is SUPER COOL considering there were over 500 submissions in that category.

So, check it out if you haven’t already! I think it has some potential mechanically, so I’m kind of entertaining the notion of making an expanded post-game-jam version.

Creative projects.

I said in the last blog post that I was working on a certain game that was like a fighting/rhythm game. But that kind of fell by the wayside after I had a lot of trouble precisely syncing up audio with visuals in Javascript. I still don’t know how to do that, so, uh, if you have any idea, let me know, I guess.

I also have something else (not a game) that’s been brewing over the last few months and is nearing completion. It’s going to be exciting, I promise!

Other life updates.

I am currently looking for a programming job. Job hunting is not super fun, but lately I’ve been making some progress and getting further in job-interview-type processes, so I’m feeling ok about that. Hopefully, I will get a job soon! File this one under “cautiously optimistic.”

Post image.

The post image for this post is the delicious yet inedible bay leaf. Man, now I want to eat some spaghetti.
